Have you ever wanted to ride a yacht? Yachting can be an exhilarating and relaxing experience if you know how. There are many accredited training courses which can equip you with the skills you need to drive a yacht professionally.
The International Certificate for Operators of Pleasure Craft (commonly referred to as the International Certificate of Competence - ICC) was created to allow pleasure cruising along the length of rivers and created accredited training courses for those who wanted to learn to properly navigate a yacht.
The evidence of competence required differed for each of the countries that carried out training and certification for young boaters. Eventually, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Inland Transport Committee Working Party on Inland Water Transport sought to find a solution.
The rya icc course is a one day skipper course that enables you to learn how to yacht and sets you up for adventure sailing in breath-taking views on the sea. Many courses for yachting also include packages in countries abroad if you are learning. These packages include 5 days sailing (including 4 night hours) and knowledge of RYA Day Skipper Theory level. In addition, some packages also include accommodation on-board, breakfast, lunch, refreshments and two evening meals, waterproof clothing, bedding and towels, safety equipment and mooring fees.
On successful completion you’ll be awarded the RYA Day Skipper Practical (tidal) certificate. The Day Skipper practical certificate also enables you to apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC), which would be beneficial for professional and independent sailing. It would be invaluable to do a course which can benefit your career and if you are serious about sailing these courses may be just what you need in order to succeed while at sea and enjoy the surroundings!
